Mihai Eminescu Statue Iasi

The statuary group, sculpted in bronze (author, Ioan Schmidt Faur, 1928), is composed by a central statue, representing Mihai Eminescu, wrapped in a mantle, like in his poem "Ode (in antique metre)" and other two statues, representing a man (the Philosophy / the Wisdom) and a woman (the Poetry). On the pedestal there are two bas-reliefs: one of them is inspired by the well-known poem "Luceafarul", written by Eminescu and, the other one, by the battle of Razboieni, when the Voivod Stefan cel Mare was defeated by the Ottomans. Since 1957, the monument was placed near "Mihai Eminescu" Central University Library. Initially it was in front of "Al.I.Cuza" University.
