The Hydro-Karst System Honu - The Left Side Of Warm Somes - Somesului Gorge Cluj-Napoca

The hydro-karst system Honu is located on the left side of Somes Gorge. This is a system that is in the exploration phase, consisting of Honu Cave, Black Fissure Cave, pothole of Cuciulat. Access into the hydro karst system Honu is allowed with the rules established by the Administration of Apuseni National Park.

Honu Cave has a development of 150 m and is located in the left side of Warm Somes Valley. It consists of a single fossil gallery, easily accessible. The following research will determine if there is an active gallery because at approximately 40 m below the entrance to the cave there is an underground river which resurfaces through Honu karst intermittent spring.

Black Fissure Cave is located on the right side of Cow Valley. It is crossed by two major rivers that come to the surface through Honu karst intermittent spring. Is not classified in terms of protection classes, the galleries are broken and crossed by temporary actives, having the appearance of galleries crossed by streams. Crossing it is easy with specific equipment.

Pothole of Cuciulat is located on the right side of Cow Valley, 150 m upstream of the Black crack entrance. The entrance is made through a shaft of 50 m and is dominated by a gallery with a stream of low flow. Browsing the pothole involves the use of Alpine Speleology Technique.
