Cave Tosorog Bicazu Ardelean

Toşorog Cave is situated in the northern-eastern part of Hăşmaş Mountains, about 28 kms far from Bicaz town, on Bicazu Ardelean village territory.

Toşorog Cave is declared a mixt rezervation and known by the natives as Jgeabul de gaură ( The hole Gutter). Set on Valea Caprei (The Goat’s Valley), of over 420m length, it is considered the bigger cave formed of conglomerates. The entrance to the two rooms of the cave is available to the visitors, the, the route continues through a hole of 4-5 metres where, beacause of the walls moisture it is recommended the use of an assurance technique.

An important colony of bats is living in the Toşorog Cave, bats that are on disappearance situation because of the distroying of their favourite habitat from the inner cave. The cave thus represents a special interest for the researchers as it is the refuge of a bats species that has to benefit of a special attention.

Because of the fact that the visit of the cave is not made in an organized manner, in the latest years many visitors led the cave in an irreparable degradation state. The cave is not electrified and does not have fittings to facilitate the access. Presently, there are taken approaches in order to be arranged and opened to the tourists for visiting in the presence of a guide.
