Art Museu "iulia Hălăucescu" Tarcau

The Museum of Arts „Iulia Hălăucescu” was inaugurated in November 2003 in Tarcău village , in the building in which functioned “ the foster teacher’s school”. With the help of the local authority and also of numerous arts lovers sponsors, the building was rebuilt on a proportion of 80 per cent and arranged for becoming a museum. The permanent exhibition of the museum is expanded on a surface of 100 square meters arranged like a fairy tale land, that unveils the charm of the foster Tarcău/ from the old times.

The museum building has six rooms that contain almost 120 plastic works, and also personal objects of the artist who was so-called „ the lady of the Romanian aquarelle”. All the objects and the works exhibitted in the museum were given by Iulia Hălăucescu to her native village, Tarcău.

In the rooms destined to “the eye and mind delight” there are exposed landscape paintings and numerous portraits that represent the artist’s family, as well as great personalities of the Neamţ cultural life like Constantin Mătase and G.T. Kirileanu.

The museum ,through the exhibitted works and the objects, manages to give us a piece of the artist’s life. The numerous furniture objects, together with the ornamental documents and objects remake the atmosphere of the house in which the painter Iulia Hălăucescu lived her childhood.
