Allgemeine Infos - Castle Crag (Várbérc) Ojdula
Castle Crag (Várbérc)
The ridge surrounded by the brooks Fajló and Égés,flowing into Kopolnó, is named Castle crag.We can't find the ruins, but surely, in the Middle Ages the steep brow served as a hiding-place for the locals. As proof, the entrance of a paved tunnel can be seen even today under Castle crag.A legend is told about this place by the residents of Ozsdola.
"János made hay on top of the crag. He waited for his pal to help him in his work.He waited and waited but he did not come.Another man got there at dusk. He asked:-What are you doing, János? I am waiting for my pal-he answered. But late evening came and his pal did not show up.János remained only with waiting. He had to finish alone the bestrew lasting until a fortnight. The people in the village repeated it again and again:János is waiting on the crag. This is how the mountain got renamed from Váróbérc into Várbérc." |
