The statue, representing the great writer Vasile Alecsandri, is placed in front of the National Theater. It was inaugurated on 15-th of October 1906, during a national festival. The author, Wladimir C. Hegel (a Polish professor of sculpture) worked together with the Romanian sculptor, Gheorghe Boboc.
