Szekler Museum of Ciuc
The museum from Miercurea Ciuc as an independent institution was established in 1950. It inherited the 1930s? remained exhibition material from the Szekler Museum of Ciuc and the museological collection of the Catholic Gymnasium. From the beginning of the 1970s the museum is in its due place, in the Miko castle. The open-air section can be seen behind the historic building and the Imre Nagy Gallery in Jigodin-Bai.
The cultural-scientific institution has 32 employees and its primar aim is exploring, preserving, processing and presenting the cultural inheritance of the region. Due to our wide-ranging professional connections we have an active role in the scientific circulation across national bounderies. Beside the five permanent exhibitions there are more than ten periodical exhibitions a year. The Szekler Museum from Ciuc, beside its scientific function, is an important tourist centre of the region, having more than 15000 foreign visitors a year. The quadrangle of the Miko castle offers the scene for a considerable part of the town is cultural life.
