Presentation - Museum Of History And Ethnography Bicaz Bicaz
History and Ethnography Museum from Bicaz was founded in 1958 through the complex research achieved by the Romanian Academy in the accumulation lake area of the hydro-electric station “Dimitirie Leonida” in Bicaz. Since 1966 the musem has been functioning in the building of the former village theatre „Ion Kalinderu”. Built at the beginning of the XXth century, the museum building is registered as historic monument. The permanent exhibition of the history and ethnography museum is structured on three distinct rooms that illustrates the monographic history of Bistriţa’s Valley, as well as the 102 paintings donated to the town by the painter Iulia Hălăucescu.
The first room is dedicated to the monographic history of Bistriţa’s Valley in which there are presented many paleolithic communities, as well as extremely important aspects about the life of Dacian-Carpathian communities from the IInd and IIIrd centuries a.Chr. This room also contains documents and papers belonging to the one who designed the hydro-electrical barage from Bicaz, professor engineer Dimitrie Leonida (1883-1965).
The second room presents the evolution of the human collectivities from Bistriţa’s Valley containing defining elements of the area’s ethnography (wools, components of the popular costume, the rustic furniture, etc.). The ethnographic material in the musem also offers us details about the univers of the area’s patriarchal life, its specific and diversity.
The third room is destined to the permanent exposition of the Romanian aquarelle lady – Iulia Hălăucescu, called „ the epic of Bicaz”. |
