Bánffy Castle From Borsa Borşa

Borsa estate was given to Bánffy family by King Louis I of Hungary. The castle from Borsa was built in the 19th century by Bánffy family, Daniel Bánffy (1812-1888) even having a funerary monument in the forest in front of the castle. It is built in eclectic style, combining neo-Baroque and neoclassical elements.

The castle plan is rectangular, being provided with a square tower, ground floor structure, floor and framework. The access is made through a porch made of 5 Doric columns, above which is placed the terrace. The wrought iron pieces from the stairway and the original elements of furniture decorated with Venetian mirrors represent the treasure which gives value and uniqueness to the aristocratic residence.

The construction is found on a wide estate from which only the main alleys bordered by trees are left. From 1957, the castle became the head office of the hospital for chronic mental diseases.
